The Dance Between Joy and Pain with Raida Abdulsalam Abu-Issa

May 11, 2025 | The Success Code

Seeing the good in everything and communicating with love is ingrained in my DNA.

Raida talks about her passions!

I grew up in a business-minded family of five brothers and one sister.

Having lived in different countries spread over two continents, we were surrounded by diversity and a wide range of experiences that instilled in us resilience and adaptability for the future.

Growing up, I faced the challenge of adaptation, learning to navigate a world that often misjudged my intentions, sensitivity as well as the weight of comparison.

Initially, I wanted to study child psychology for my love for children and languages but ended up with an interior design degree. Graduated and worked in our family business as manager for gifts and fashion jewelry for 13 years. My love for learning and expanding my knowledge in child psychology and self-development helped me navigate my emotions and triggers which gave me the right tools to explore possibilities to shift and grow.

Having lost my father at the age of eighteen, shook the very foundation of my existence and propelled me into a journey of self-discovery. Three years ago, my mother and husband passed away within ten months, which put me on a journey of confusion, chaos, and entitlement over my choices. However, despite all of that, I carved some time to slow down, reflect, and the courage to seek connection to reclaim my power by filtering all external noises.

In moments of anger or frustration, I remind myself to be my own compass by asking: Will this action bring me happiness? Does it align with my core values? What matters to me is making choices I won’t regret – choices that preserve my values, inner peace, and happiness.

Going through a series of detours, I have come to realize my capabilities and the vital messages I wish to share about hope, resilience, and faith, which I hold dearly to my heart, where I will not allow any circumstances to change the essence of who I am. Smiling in the mid of a hurricane, giving the benefit of the doubt in every situation and putting my energy in the right place, is my true passion that I want to pass on to others. There is always hope! We can’t control events from happening, but we can control how we react to them and accept what life throws at us.

God did not bring us into this world to suffer; rather, He is by our side guiding us to our greatness. God isolates us before He elevates us.

How did I do it? It was through continuous learning, maintaining a growth mindset, having the right support, pushing through my fears, trusting, stepping into the unknown and taking the first step in faith. Creating daily morning habits like meditation, practicing gratitude, and exercises to ground myself to set my day.

Here I am today wearing different hats: an artist, I play the piano, love languages; shareholder; a Barret Values and Jack Canfield Success Principles Certified trainer. Rich with a plethora of experiences and exposure with a growth mindset.

I’m a mother of five, family-oriented businesswoman, who ventured in child education, women empowerment, and leadership.

My passion is to witness a smile, a glimpse of hope in the eyes of people and see them shine.

Three years ago, my mother and husband passed away within ten months, which put me on a journey of confusion, chaos, and entitlement over my choices.

Raida’s Leadership Philosophy

“The best teachers are those who show you where to look but don’t tell you what to see.”

Growth happens overtime not overnight, and this is my Moto in life! Growth is a steppingstone not a destination. It is a journey of continuous learning and growth to become equipped to face life’s unexpected detours. Life is not happening to us; it is happening for us to grow. For a new self to be born hardship is necessary. Notice: Old keys don’t open new doors.

Raida’s Businesses

I opened my own business of Café Céramique Franchise back in 2006. It’s a concept of painting on ceramics while eating. It was a family concept for all ages. In 2013 I opened The Little Engineer Franchise, a concept for teaching robotics and renewable energy from the ages of 6-18 years. At that time, technology was becoming dominant in our children’s development and growth. I felt the responsibility to open Café Céramique because I was aware that children can adapt easily to technology but unfortunately it might affect them later in life feeling the lack of not living their childhood years as expected.

The Story Behind The Business

After working for 13 years as gifts and fashion jewelry manager, I got pregnant with my twins, and they were born premature. This led me to look at my priorities (my future generation) and stopped working for four years until they went off to school. After some time, I realized that I was becoming self-centered by not working. I decided to open my own business within my field of passion Edutainment in 2006.

In 2017, I sold my businesses because again my family priorities were to take my children to finish their high school education abroad.

During that time, I still attended Jack Canfield’s live event “Break Through to Success” as well as other self-development trainings where I decided to start a mobile business and have the freedom and flexibility to travel around the world.

Back in 2015, I wanted to create a tablet for kids to enhance their creativity, build their self-esteem, and help them deal with their emotions. In 2022, while in Toronto, I met with a friend who is an app developer. I shared my vision with her, and she said, “We can develop it for you.”

I started developing an App for kids ages 3-7 called Astrosteem, designed to build self-esteem, channel emotions, and combat bullying, now we are still in the MVP phase.

Impacting Lives

THROUGH my experiences in Café Céramique and The Little Engineer, I witnessed the joy of seeing the smiles and appreciation on children’s faces when they tapped into their creativity, bonding with their families and developing teamwork in a safe space.

Now with my diversified skills in art, ceramic painting, creativity and being a growth mindset coach my brand focusses on identifying your hidden gifts within, building their self-esteem, reconnecting with themselves, and creating a balanced life.

Notice! We all have some inborn gifts. Explore them and find the right key to your lock to unleash them.
