From challenges to wins

What is the biggest challenge you faced in your business?

Starting my first business, an upscale bakery cafe, with my children at the tender ages of 2 and 3.5 was a venture into the unknown. The challenge to balance my roles as an entrepreneur, mother, and wife taught me the resilience needed to juggle family, manage staff, and ensure profitability while producing high-quality products. Networking with other Mompreneurs opened doors to new friendships and collaborations, providing business insights that contributed to mutual growth. This period honed my abilities in multitasking and time management, proving that with determination, even the most daunting challenges could be overcome.

What are you most proud of regarding your business?

What fills me with the most pride is the role I’ve played as a mentor to other women and my children, demonstrating through action the values of community, love, patience, and learning. My daughter, Sabrina’s experience, as described in her college application essay, is a testament to the life lessons learned within the bakery’s magical, yellow walls. Her reflections reveal the power of a nurturing environment — how it fosters a sense of belonging, importance, and the courage to express oneself. The addition of a grilled cheese sandwich on the kid’s menu at her request speaks to the heart of my business philosophy: listening and adapting to the community’s needs. Her words echo the truth that children learn by example, and it is the examples we set that shape the future generations. By instilling a love for learning and a spirit of kindness and hard work, we not only uplift individuals but enrich our collective existence.
