I got started in this industry almost immediately after college quite by accident. I have held nearly every lending position possible, which I believe gave me amazing insight for the loan application process as I grew my career.
Sue Talks about her passions!
I am a top producing mortgage loan originator and entrepreneur with a wealth of information to share with colleagues, homebuyers, and aspiring entrepreneurs. I love to mentor and inspire others using examples from my own experiences and lessons learned over my 25+ year career. In addition to publishing my story in Women Who Dream, I recently started a podcast called “Grab Your Keys with Sue Meitner” sharing the keys to success of other entrepreneurs. My overall goal is to help people build wealth – personally through home ownership and professionally by learning to pivot and overcome obstacles.
Being a woman in this industry is challenging. Female Mortgage Lenders are underrepresented and lack national recognition.
Sue’s Leadership philosophy
Never stop learning and sharing wisdom. While I believe you can be an expert in your field, there is always more to learn: new ways to interact with people, new strategies, and new opportunities to listen, learn, and share your knowledge.
And…
Believe that anything is possible with hard work and a path to get there. It may not happen overnight, so stay positive! Don’t let diversions or rejection stop you from reaching your goal.
Centennial lending group
I started an independent mortgage company, Centennial Lending Group, LLC in 2010. Grew the company for eight years, then merged with a colleague in 2019. Centennial Lending Group is now powered by Success Mortgage Partners, which gives CLG greater technology and lending opportunities, while allowing me to remain President and continue to do the mentoring that I love without the stress of managing day to day operations. It was a win/win/win for me, the CLG staff, and my new team at Success Mortgage Partners.
Each workday I have a rigorous schedule of calls, meetings, and presentations to educate, mentor and inspire my team. I also dedicate time each day to follow changes in the real estate and finance markets so I can educate and advise consumers, all while being a top-producing loan originator. I am well-known for thinking creatively in sales, operations, and marketing and always encourage my team to have a backup plan for all loan applications. I cultivate a collaborative environment in the office, so each team member freely shares tips and past experiences to help one another succeed. We are committed to the term “Stronger Together.”
How I got started
I got started in this industry almost immediately after college quite by accident. I have held nearly every lending position possible, which I believe gave me amazing insight for the loan application process as I grew my career. Once I moved into sales, I discovered a competitive nature that I never saw in myself before, and that’s when this career path became really fun. I set my sights on learning all I could with the eventual goal of starting my own company. When I was finally ready, the timing could not have been worse. The country was on the brink of an economic crash, but with determination and creative thinking, I overcame more than a few obstacles and CLG flourished, quickly gaining recognition as one of Inc Magazine’s “Fastest Growing Companies” for four years.
sue Impacts lives!
The team at CLG is known to work hard to secure financing that gets people into the homes of their dreams. We strive to be a “lender for life,” staying in touch with our customers to help them continue to build wealth through real estate with refinances, and second homes or investment property purchases.
We continually educate our customer base and real estate partners about the market and how to make the most of their investment. It’s extremely gratifying to know you are helping individuals and families make the American Dream of owning a home possible. I know I’m doing my job well when I continually get referrals of family members and friends from my customers. And I love that I’ve been at this long enough to now help the children of those customers buy their first homes!
From challenges to wins
What is the biggest challenge you faced in your business?
Being a woman in this industry is challenging. Female Mortgage Lenders are underrepresented and lack national recognition.
What are you most proud of regarding your business?
I am most proud of my personal growth through the entire experience of starting, building, and merging my business. I learned that it’s okay to change your goals, to pivot, and to not be influenced by what others might think. I discovered new strengths and goals once I allowed myself to do more of what I enjoyed.
